Air Cast Tournament Medical Report
The 27th annual Can/Am Rugby Tournament was held August 5-6, 2000.  Medical coverage was provided by Lake Placid Sports Medicine.  Nine staff provided coverage to twelve fields of play totaling over 155 hours of coverage.  The staff consisted of Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Emergency Medical Technicians and Nurses.   In total, 215 injuries were seen over the two days of action.  A breakdown of the injuries according to type and location follows.

Most Unique
Human Bite to Index Finger and Forehead.  Both requiring Emergency Room attention for suture and cleaning. 

Forty-Six (46) players were referred to the hospital for follow-up medial care for their injuries.  Of these, eleven (11) were referred to the on-site ambulance(s) for transportation to the Emergency Room (their numbers may vary as they transported some we did not see, and some refused transporting via ambulance).

4 boxes latex gloves
15 ounces of betadine
170 cotton tip applicators 
23 packages (10 in each package) of steri-strip closures.
1 Container of second skin
50 Regular Adhesive strips (band-aides)
50 Yards plastic wrap (to hold ice in place)
1 case of Elasticon (30 rolls) to Canadian National Team
