2010 Division Changes:
Saranac Lake, NY (July 19, 2010): To ensure competitive balance in the Tournament we have made the decision to discontinue the Premier Division this year and move those teams to the Club Division. The Premier Division will be available again next year. The Club Division will be highly competitive and exciting. We have also created another lower level Division called the “B”lack Fly Division to try and accommodate as many of the late entry wait list teams as possible. Please register and reserve your spot early for 2011 as there is high demand for all Divisions.

2009 Schedule Highlights and “Morning Line” Favorites
Saranac Lake, N.Y. (July 30, 2009) - The 36th Annual CAN-AM Rugby Tournament will kick off this Friday with opening round Old Boys action in Saranac Lake, and will then feature all-day play Saturday in Men’s and Women’s Divisions in both Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, culminating in theChampionship Finals played at the North Country Community College.
The Over-50 division brings seven teams to the North Country, including Blackthorn (who has not lost a game in three years), to renew acquaintances, take in the beautiful Adirondacks and play some “Champaign Rugby”. It is great to have these experienced rugby gentlemen in the mix. Morning Line Favorite: Blackthorn
In the Over-45 division Myths and Legends will look to make it two in a row and defend their 2008 Championship. Look for White Plains and Albany to wrestle for a spot to take on the Myths. The home team Mountaineer Old Boys (MOB) will attempt to upset the Myths and Legends and sneak into Sunday’s Finals. Morning Line Favorite: Myths and Legends
Over-35 features a six team field that includes 2008 O-35 champ Schenectady Reds. White Plains looks to get revenge from their stunning last minute loss to the Reds last year. This division also features 4 new teams in Brockport, Keene State, Syracuse and North Bay. Morning Line Favorite: Very close, but White Plains
Men Premier Division is just stacked with good solid teams. Old Blue has won the Can- Am Tournament more times than any club. Brockport, Penn State and Amoskeag will be gearing up to upset Old Blue. Other new teams include a very good Mystic River side and an unknown in the KC Rogues. Morning Line Favorite: Old Blue
Club Division features 16 solid teams. Buffalo in the defending Champs, but look out for the East Side Hyenas, Burlington, Long Island, Balmy Beach and Bell High. Morning Line Favorite: Again…very close, but East Side Hyenas
Men’s Social Division is wide open. The favorites include the Ottawa Indians, Akron and the Saranac Lake Mountaineers (Tournament hosts). Morning Line Favorite: The improved Mountaineer side.
The Women’s Division has all 24 women’s teams in one division. The first rounds of games will separate the best from the rest. Clubs to look out for include NY Rugby, Beantown, Old Girls and SEPTA. Morning Line Favorite: Beantown
Come down and watch. The Can Am Rugby Tournament promises to be three great days of rugby!
